Hadaway & Hadaway have been the Secretaries and point of contact for the Tyne Mariners for over 100 years now.
Do you have some sea service – deep sea, coastal or fishing boats – and are you over 55 or not able to work? Or are you over 55, not able to work, and the widow of someone with sea service? The Tyne Mariners might be able to give you a monthly pension if you are in some financial need.
Tyne Mariners also owns the Master Mariners Homes in Tynemouth which have 30 flats, and where vacancies occur from time to time.
To be considered for a monthly grant you should:
- be aged 55 or over or be incapable of earning your own living
- live, and have lived, in the Tyneside area for three years
- be in some financial need
- have been a seafarer for five years or more, or the widow of such a person
We can sometimes help even if there is less than five years sea service.
To be considered for a flat you should:
- be aged 55 or over or be incapable of earning your own living
- live, and have lived, in the Tyneside area for three years
- be in housing need
- have been a seafarer for a minimum of five years, or the widow of such a person.
We can sometimes allocate flats where there has been less than five years sea service, or even no sea service, if there are seafaring connections or particular housing needs.
